Your US company needs a bank account. It doesn't need you to fly to the USA to get one.
US Banking for Your Company
Part of the guide US bank account and US credit: how to become financially visible in America
Your US company needs a business account in US dollars, and usually a way to handle your euros too. Here's how we set up your company's banking today: Mercury for day-to-day business, a payment provider for your euros and, if you like, an in-person appointment at a traditional US bank in Austin. Don't have a US company yet? This step-by-step guide shows you how to form a US LLC.
1Mercury: your US dollar business account
By default, we open your company's account with Mercury. The account is held directly in your company's name, with you acting as its manager. No trip to the USA required. You get a debit card and handle your payments online. Mercury decides whether to open the account.
Mercury itself is not a bank. By its own description, Mercury is a fintech company; banking services are provided by its partner banks.
LLC, Inc or LP in Delaware, Florida, California, New York, Texas or Wyoming.
2Euro account details with an IBAN
US banks generally only hold accounts in US dollars. You get euro account details with an IBAN for your company through a payment provider. With them, you accept euro payments from your European customers and transfer money between euros and dollars. A payment provider isn't a bank either.
3Optional: a bank introduction in Austin
If you'd also like an account at a traditional US bank, we'll introduce you in person to a bank in Austin. This is part of Credit Builder: with Credit Builder, you travel to the USA once for the bank appointment. Whether the bank opens an account, and on what terms, is up to the bank.
Credit Builder goes beyond the account: it guides your company on the way to its own US credit cards and its own creditworthiness. You can add it to a new company formation or book it for your existing US company. More about Credit Builder.
