A Mount Bonnell European Roadshow is a brilliant chance to get you face to face with potential investors so you can pitch your business to them and bolster your investment chances. You will travel with the Mount Bonnell senior team who will support you to prepare and facilitate the meetings where you will give your presentation.
How It Works – Pre-Roadshow
We have a large network of over 250 potential investor contacts, built in over a decade of living and working as Europeans in the U.S. Our network comprises of contacts who are clients, personal friends, acquaintances and former colleagues. Some investors are individuals, while others represent family business or investment firms.
We will work with you to identify funding needs and create a targeted list of potential investors to contact in our network, based on your business details and objectives.
From there we will send out your business plan and presentation to our network and draw up a shortlist of interested investors to meet with. We do not employ a “shotgun” approach to contacting investors in our network. Instead, we take the time to carefully select investors to contact, based on our knowledge of their preferences and interests when it comes to investing. These might include the stage of the investment, what industry you are in, and the amount of money you are looking to secure. This approach means we have a high chance of gaining seriously interested investors which will maximize your chances of success.
In our experience the typical response rate at this stage is high, and usually within two weeks a large number of contacts will have got back to us to let us know they are interested in meeting you. Once we have finalized the list of potential investors we will plan our itinerary and schedule your roadshow. We’ll spend time helping you prepare your pitch and any other materials you need to ensure each meeting is as successful as possible.
How it Works- During the Roadshow
The senior team at Mount Bonnell, including Sebastian, our CEO, will accompany you on your week-long European Roadshow. We will travel with you and introduce you to potential investors. The usual number of meetings will be around 15-20 – so it will be intense, but we will support you at every stage. Typically, we visit London, Zurich and Frankfurt.
We’ll facilitate each meeting and help you to present your company in order to ensure you present it in the best possible light.
We will also make sure that we keep the meeting on track and cover every base that needs to be covered for each meeting. You should be prepared that different meetings might have different settings and tones – some might be formal boardroom presentations, whereas others will be part of a lunch or dinner appointment. For this reason, we pay close attention to helping you to adapt to each situation and will direct meetings if necessary to ensure everyone stays on track.
If you are interested in a Mount Bonnell Roadshow you will need a proper business plan and company presentation. We will need to see evidence of a business that is ready to benefit from funding and has a clear plan for growth. If you need help with this stage, we will be able to put you in touch with experts who can help you to produce the materials required.
Presenting your business and meeting investors can be a nerve-wracking experience, but we will be there with you during each step to support you and boost your confidence. We will help you to prepare for your roadshow and make sure you are thoroughly briefed during every stage.
An Investment Roadshow is not a “Dragons Den” scenario where you present your information and walk away with a stack of cash or a check at the end of the meeting. Once we have secured interest from investors there will be the usual process of negotiation and due diligence. Ultimately it will be up to you and your investors to move forward to the next stage of investing and finalize your deal.
When it comes to investors themselves, in our experience, typical investments are between $500,000 and $5,000,000. However, you should also be aware that there are many different ways in which funding can be established. Different investors have different priorities and may want to offer funds in a variety of ways.
For example, in one of our cases, an investor did not provide one large sum of money, but rather paid a monthly sum of $50,000 over a period of three years. Again, the final arrangements will be between you and your investor.
In our experience, the investors in our extensive network of contacts tend to have a few things in common:
- Most are successful entrepreneurs who have sold a business and are not very keen to invest in new companies.
- Our network tends to be made up of investors who are experienced and have several investments.
- The majority of investors are keen to have an active role in defining the strategy of the company they invest in.
- Most will seek investments that are complimentary to existing investments, and where they can use their existing contacts to contribute to the business.
The European Roadshow, including research and preparation, costs $20,000 and we will expect to receive 10% of all funds raised via meeting investors on the Roadshow. This is another reason that you can be sure we’ll do our utmost to secure you and your business the right meetings. We want to work with business that we can believe in, so we make sure we are a good fit before the Roadshow.
